The protection of personal data is a key concern for us. We operate our language services in accordance with the legally applicable regulations and the guidelines which govern our profession.
Personal data and documents
Personal data includes e.g. name, postal address, telephone number and email address as well as other data relating to natural persons.
We do not collect or process any personal data apart from the data and documents which you provide to us, e.g. in connection with an enquiry or a translation or proofreading order.
By submitting an enquiry or placing an order, you consent to these processing procedures.
We use the personal data and documents provided solely to answer your enquiry and to process your order in accordance with your specifications.
Your personal data or documents will only be made accessible to the individuals responsible for processing the order and who are also subject to these data protection guidelines. These are:
• The translator,
• The proofreader.
In the case of notarised translations and translations legalised with an apostille, your documents will be sent to the notary and the responsible apostille office (in the Canton of Bern, this is the State Chancellery). They, are also subject to these data protection guidelines.
Duty of confidentiality
Translators are subject to a duty of confidentiality. They handle your information and the documents provided to us in the strictest of confidence and with due care, in accordance with our professional code of conduct and honour.
Security
We implement technical and organisational security measures to protect your messages and documents from unauthorised access (firewall, virus protection, local storage only, paper copies shredded on completion and delivery of the order).
However, please bear in mind that security flaws may occur in any email communications.
In the case of highly confidential documents and at your express request, you can send us the documents separately via a secure upload. Should your document contain highly sensitive data, we will pseudonymise any personal data on request prior to further processing. You will be informed of the relevant information in due course.
Storage and retention
All data and documents involved in processing the order are stored locally and on separate, password-protected data carriers for the legally prescribed retention period.
Cookies
No cookies are stored on your computer, smartphone or tablet when you visit our website.
Automatically collected non-personal data
When you access our website, information is occasionally collected automatically but is not assigned to a specific person (e.g. internet browser and operating system used, domain name of the website which linked you to our site, number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed).
Our administrators will answer any questions you may have about data processing and storage.
